Toastmasters District 49 Director Lynn Araki-Regan, DTM, is pleased to announce that Mark Lucas, DTM, Region 2 International Director, will deliver a special message at the District Council Business Meeting on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. (HST) via Zoom. His remarks will precede the election of district leaders for the 2026–2027 Toastmasters year, along with other important business on the agenda.

Lucas, of San Marino, California, serves as Associate Director of Data Center Operations at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, where he leads strategic initiatives supporting critical campus infrastructure, including high-performance computing systems. A respected leader in higher education information technology, he brings both technical expertise and a passion for service to his professional and volunteer roles.

A Toastmaster since 2012, Lucas is a member of Caltech Toastmasters and has held numerous leadership positions, earning the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation—the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters. As an elected member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, he serves as a “working ambassador,” helping shape policies and guide the organization’s global mission.

“Toastmasters leadership training provided me the responsibility, competence, and courage to quiet my fears of managing people, clearly voice my thoughts, and actively contribute to the future of my organizations,” Lucas shared.

District 49 leaders and members are encouraged to attend this important meeting and hear from an international leader whose insights continue to inspire growth and excellence across Toastmasters worldwide.

Voting Eligibility & Registration

District Council members must be in good standing, and their clubs must have at least eight (😎 current members to be eligible to vote. All voting members must complete registration by 11:59 p.m. HST on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
